The One-Eyed Man Is King
It is said that the money is in the list, but how true is that statement?
Is it just another cliché tossed about blindly by so called “gurus”? I think
not... have you heard of this old parable.
“In the country of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.”
How true that statement is! (Even when it comes to list building.)
How so, you say?
Well, consider this:
Whatever niche you are creating products and services for... that is
your country. And, all those prospective buyers within that niche whom are
uninformed and uneducated about that niche, well; they are “the blind”.
They are “blind” from the knowledge you possess...
This is why they are searching you out... This is why they are eager
to buy what you are selling... It is all because they are blind to that
knowledge, yet you are not. You can shed light on it for them, and you can
guide them to where they want and need to be..... Click here to download the book for free

With a Little Help Doctorow, Cory
The Things That Make Me Weak and Strange Get
Engineered Away
"Cause it's gonna be the future soon,
"And I won't always be this way,
"When the things that make me weak and strange get engineered away"
-Jonathan Coulton, The Future Soon
Lawrence's cubicle was just the right place to chew on a thorny logfile
problem: decorated with the votive fetishes of his monastic order, a
thousand calming, clarifying mandalas and saints devoted to helping
him think clearly.
From the nearby cubicles, Lawrence heard the ritualized muttering of a
thousand brothers and sisters in the Order of Reflective Analytics, a susurration
of harmonized, concentrated thought. On his display, he
watched an instrument widget track the decibel level over time, the
graph overlayed on a 3D curve of normal activity over time and space.
He noted that the level was a little high, the room a little more anxious
than usual......Click here to download the book for free

robot is allowed. The story follows single Father detective Arturo Icaza
de Arana-Goldberg while he tries to track down his missing teenage
daughter. The detective is a bit of an outcast because his wife defected

THE FUTURE OF IDEAS
There are two futures in front of us, the one we are taking and the one
we could have. The one we are taking is easy to describe. Take the Net, mix
it with the fanciest TV, add a simple way to buy things, and that’s pretty
much it. It is a future much like the present. Though I don’t (yet) believe
this view of America Online (AOL), it is the most cynical image of Time
Warner’s marriage to AOL: the forging of an estate of large-scale networks
with power over users to an estate dedicated to almost perfect control over
content. That content will not be “broadcast” to millions at the same time;
it will be fed to users as users demand it, packaged in advertising precisely
tailored to the user. But the service will still be essentially one-way, and the
freedom to feed back, to feed creativity to others, will be just about as constrained
as it is today......Click here to download the book for free
